SUPER ENTHUSED BLOG: FREE THINGS TO DO AT WALT Disney WORLD (2018 edition)

FREE THINGS TO DO AT WALT DISNEY WORLD 2018!

1. Get Pixie Dusted at Castle Couture!

Right behind Cinderella castle is a sometimes overlooked shop called Castle Couture. Though this shop is targeted towards young children,  there is a special experience within for people of all ages! Ask a cast member for some "pixie dust," and be greeted to a special throne where a cast member will ask you to make a wish and then wave a wand over your head, granting your wish as you are sprinkled with glittery pixie dust!

I have heard that cast members also grant wishes in the archways inside Cinderella's castle, but I have only experienced it firsthand at Castle Couture. If you've been pixie dusted anywhere else on property, please let me know in the comments!

2. Wear a Celebration Button!

If you're visiting Walt Disney for a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary, first trip, or any other celebration, ask a cast member at any Disney resort, any guest services location, or find the cast members with those cute basked on Main Street USA and ask for a celebration button! Wearing a button will add that extra bit of magic to your day, as you are greeted with a friendly "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations" from cast members and guests alike!

3. Meet Your Favorite Characters!

Though character meals are a great way to meet some of your favorite characters, you can meet and take photos with characters for free with just a little bit of planning! The My Disney Experience app and website list character times and locations, and if you show up at just the right time, you can be one of the first in line to meet your favorites! Some characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Tinkerbell, and several princesses, have dedicated character spots that you can get a FastPass for (book your fast passes through the My Disney Experience website or app). A FastPass ensures that you will get quality time and great photos with your favorite characters! Tinkerbell's location on Main Street is a particularly adorable spot for photos, and she's lots of fun!

4. Visit the Resorts!

You don't even need a park ticket to visit Disney's resorts for dining and shopping! Drop your car off at the Ticket & Transportation Center (TTC), or better yet, take an Uber/Lyft/Taxi directly to the resort of your choice! From the TTC, you can take the resort monorail to visit the Contemporary Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, and Disney's Polynesian Resort, all of which have beautiful lobbies, great shops, and delicious restaurants and bars! The Grand Floridian also features live entertainment with The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra and a piano player, filling the lobby with lovely tunes and some of your Disney favorites!

The Swan and Dolphin are also lovely and lead us to the next free thing to do at the parks....

5. Disney's Boardwalk & Disney Springs!

Two additional experiences that don't require park tickets are Disney's Boardwalk (bonus/pro tip: you can walk to Epcot from the Boardwalk!) and Disney Springs. Both have numerous shops, restaurants, bars, live entertainment, and many options for fun! Make sure you keep wearing that celebration from #2 above, you never know what magic awaits!

BONUS TIP: Go see Yehaa Bob Jackson at River Roost Lounge at Port Orleans Riverside!

BONUS TIP: Once the price of admission is paid, you can book 3 FastPasses per day, and continue booking one FastPass at a time each hour afterwards to ride attractions to your hearts content! If you have additional tips, please leave them in the comments, or write to me at superenthused@gmail.com!
