MegaCon Orlando 2023!
This year, I attended MegaCon Orlando and I would love to share my experience with you! Whether you plan to attend in a future year, or just want to know what this event is all about, please enjoy this blog post!
MegaCon Orlando is one of the largest fan and comic conventions in the US, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger every year! We prepaid for parking, which I highly suggest, and arrived a little later in the afternoon, after 12pm, which made entry really smooth and easy. If you arrive in the early morning, there can often be long lines to park and arrive, but it also gives you a head’s up on getting everything done, depending on how much you want to do!
The event ran from Thursday to Sunday, and we attended on the Friday, another way to avoid the massive crowds of Saturdays at MegaCon – it’s known that Saturdays are the most crowded days, and are often the only days to meet with some of the more in-demand celebrities for autographs and photo ops, so if that is your priority, you just need to be prepared that Saturday will be crowded.
The Friday was pretty smooth, and our focus was enjoying the convention floor, the haunted house from A Petrified Forest, the first ever haunted house on the convention floor at MegaCon, and seeing all the cool and creative cosplay, artists, booths, community area, panels, music and general atmosphere. We got to see and do pretty much everything we wanted in that one day, so I recommend the Friday if you want a chill day just soaking everything up!
The haunted house from A Petrified Forest was really cute and fun, they themed it to a comic shop with lots of pop culture and nerdy references, perfect for the convention atmosphere. The scare actors were high energy and hilarious, we loved it! It was $13 per person, so a bit steep, but happy to support a local haunt that we really enjoy. The actual event that A Petrified Forest runs is a lot scarier and more detailed than this, this was just a tiny treat!
